Disclaimer: I think pdf is a much abused thing. I approve of it, for example, as method by which a small software provider can provide a downloadable manual along with the software. In that case the internet is just the transmission medium for both the manual and the software. I disapprove of much of the use of pdf on the internet where a proprietry format poses problems for access and transfer of information on the internet.
Software that can be used to write PDF files ranges from "free" offerings through to Adobe Acrobat for about $200.
www.adobe.com Acrobat is versatile and has the ability to do multiple page documents, add bookmarks and links, security and other features. The PDF Distiller that's included can behave in some CAD software like any other "system printer" and can produce PDF's that are pretty much indistinguishable from "real" plot.

Once you have registered you can download 5D PDF Creator for free. It installs as a printer driver and instead of printing to paper it creates PDF files and is a superb piece of software.
