5. Double click the file Qbasic to execute QBASIC.

If you see a parameter prompt, just click OK. Some machines may show a System Error, just click Cancel and then Yes to run the program.

DOWNLOAD QBASIC

-------------------------

What happened 1 Oct 2002 ..

I first I created a folder qbsc on my C drive.
Then I double clicked on DOWNLOAD QBASIC and downloaded qbsc.exe into the qbsc folder.
(At 1.) I just double clicked on qbsc.exe in the qbsc folder causing the WinRAR window (which I've never seen before) to come up. Ignoring the Browse button (ie 2.) I then..
(At 3.) Clicked on Extract button and..
(At 4.) A folder called qbasic was created (inside the qbsc folder) and 27 files were extracted into it. leaving the original qbsc.exe still sitting alone in the qbsc folder (I am unsure what would have happened if I had originally used a folder called qbasic ..maybe the 27 files would just have extracted alongside the downloaded qbsc.exe).

Note. The 27 files (1400kB total ..not much more than the 1137kB download size)included:-
The classic qbasic.exe and qbasic.hlp
Also four .bas files none of which would run under qbasic.exe and opening them in a text editor showed they were not the plain .bas files I would expect to run in QBasic1.1
(Indeed inspecting REMLINE.BAS I saw snippets of readable ascii text that said it would only run in GWBasic or BasicA but why it is suppose to run in them yet not read in Homesite I don't know.)
Also a QB.exe, four QB45xxx.hlp files and QB library or whatever ..

All listed here:

bc.exe
brun45.exe
learn.com
lib.exe
link.exe
mouse.com
noem.obj
qb.bi
qb.exe
qb.ini
qb.lib
qb.qlb
qb45advr.hlp
qb45ener.hlp
qb45qck.hlp ( ..yep! one odd letter less)
qbasic.exe ( ..the classic Qbasic1.1 ..the instructions actually tell you to click on qbasic)
qbasic.hlp ( ..the classic Qbasic1.1)
qbcbt.cbx
qbcbt.scn
qbcbt.sob
qcards.bas
qcards.dat
remline.bas
smallerr.obj
sortdemo.bas
test.bat
torus.bas

(total 27)

QB4.5 is implied by the .hlp files but the total expanded file size of around 1 meg (excluding Qbasic1.1) is far less than the about 4 Meg I expected for QB4.5 expanded.

I don't know ..will expand something that claims to be QB4.5 from .. and compare.

Hmm. Sad part. When I click on qbasic .exe or qb.exe it only comes up looking like QBasic1.1.
The instructions above say click on "Qbasic".
