AutoCAD Lesson 13-3           Reference Files - and their Use Pt 3

Previous Page Menu

The Background

I have created a simple street plan (street.dwg) with 14 vacant building sites, which can be downloaded as street.zip (19kB unzipped, 37 kB unzipped)

You and some friends should establish your own individual file for one of the sites to draw a building plan for that site.

Each individual file references its neighbours and opposite site , and the overall plan. Initially the drawing will look very bare, however as your colleagues work on their proposals their work will be available to you. The changes in the reference files are not updated as they occur, but are only reflected when you use FILE - XREF - UPDATE.

The Proposal

You have 3 hours to create a 3D object on your site!
You may attach other peoples files if this will help FILE - XREF - ATTACH - NAME OF FILE. Notice that the layers of the reference files are available to you to be switched on/off thawed/frozen, and are preceeded by "FILENAME|" .

Please don't move your site as this will affect everyone else who references it, if you need the origin elsewhere, use UCS - ORIGIN.
