OPAL MINER PROSPECTOR

Fishing in the West

If you are ever out at Jundah and like a feed of nice fish (yellow belly) - yum, yum, yum - go to the first bridge on the road to Windorah out of town. All that you will need for bait is something really shiny on the hook. I used a zip pull from a drink can. This dose the job nicely. The fish are plentyful at this water hole, and are only to happy to feed you. Another good fishing hole is at Windorah is where the Thompson River and Barcoo Rivers meet to make the Cooper's Creek. "The only place in Australia that two rivers make a creek". While talking of rivers and things, one night while camped on the Ward river out of Charleville QLD, I was talking to a psychologist. Out of the blue, he asked , what would I do if after walking over a sand dune in the dessert, you saw an army of Arabs carrying a battleship? My answer was straight back at him. I'd ask them if they would like to put the ship on my truck and I would take it to the ocean for them. Well, he was really happy with my reply, and after some thought on this, he asked me where I got my truck from? "The same place that you got your ship from".was my reply. It was not too long after that he retired for sleep.
