Tweeder's Upside-down Web Page...

This is Tweeder, the lovebird. He was born around April of 1999. I got him at a bird show in Oshkosh when he was a little baby from a professional breeder of lovebirds. Tweeder is a cute and strange little bird. He's loud, mischevous, and loving. His favorite thing to do is hang upside-down. He hangs on all his toys, his cage, a finger, anything. Even when he's standing upright he likes to have his head upside-down.
Tweeder likes to view the world from a different angle...

He loves to show off...

and he insists on making his presence known at all times.

Lovebirds are just like having a miniature parrot. They do not usually talk, though they are very vocal. Their cries are ear-piercing at times, but if that doesn't bother you, they can be a wonderful friend. Most people think you need two lovebirds, which isn't the case at all. In fact if you want a good friend, you only need one. The bird will bond with you better alone. If you offer it a mate, it will bond with that bird more than you. Lovebirds are also falsely named, as they are very aggressive to other birds, especially when protecting a mate. I also have two parakeets and my mom has a cockatiel. When they are all out together, Tweeder does his best to keep them away from me :) Lovebirds are not just a pretty little bird to have and watch like other small birds (finches for example). They need lots of attention and love, and if that can't be provided, they should be given a mate so they can give attention to each other. They have very big personalities for such little birds. Some are loving and cuddly, some are not. Tweeder loves me but he is not cuddly, he'd rather show off. I can't pet him, but he shows affection to me. He often tries to feed me (which is not at all appealing to people but it is the ultimate show of affection between birds.) Lovebirds just have different ways of showing their love, either way, you know it's true :)
