Benefits of Work First Program to Employers
The benefit to employers for partnering with WRAP, Inc. to participate in the Work First Program can be summed up in two words - Volunteer Service.
Almost all businesses and nonprofit organizations need an extra hand. Through the Work First Progam, Wrap, Inc. will assign a volunteer who will work between 18 to 21 hours a week in a supervised work assignment at no cost to the company. The work experience enables the volunteer to receive on-the-job training and work experiences under the guidance of a work site supervisor, with the opportunity of being hired at the company. The benefits to the employer of having a volunteer include the following:
-
- Employers will receive volunteer or community services at no extra cost to the business.
- Employers will be able to monitor the volunteer to determine if the volunteer meets the requirements and have the skills to become a member of the work team.
- Employers can save time and money because they don't have to waste time "searching" for a suitable employee. WRAP, Inc. will refer applicants to the employer based on the employer's need.
- Employers will have the opportunity to train the volunteer for possible employment with the company.
- Employrs can hire the volunteer at the completion of the work experience assignment.
- Employers will gain a loyal and trusted employee for having taken the time to train the volunteer and giving the volunteer a quality work experience.
- Employers can receive tax credits for hiring an individual who is receiving welfare and assisting the individual to move off welfare into full-time employment.
- Employers can earn a welfare-to work tax credit up to $8,500 per hire for hiring long-term welfare recipients.
