Outlook - Kengo Mashimo is one of best prospects that TAKA Michinoku's Kaientai Dojo produced. Originally, his legitimate fighting background led him to having a shooter gimmick. He had a great presence as pretty boy fighter that catapulted to the top of K-Dojo. Kengo Mashimo slowly changed into an even more impressive worker without compromising his aura. He added some weight, bleached his hair, tweeked his wrestling style and headed up the company's premier stable. Mashimo had long avoided the numerous gangs that came and went in Kaientai Dojo because he was over so strong as an individual. His group, Kinnoutou, became the top one and helped elevate its members through their association with Mashimo. Mashimo went on a tear as both a singles wrestler and in the tag team ranks where his team with KAZMA was dominant. He eventually went his own way again and won K-Dojo's top belt, making his a bonafide ace of the company. Kengo Mashimo is one of the most strongly pushed wrestlers on the indy scene. He and Madoka, arguably K-Dojo's two best talents, have made a great team and he is being pushed as one of the best wrestlers in collaborative independent shows. Although Mashimo has done shots for bigger companies, he seems to lack the true abilities to be top junior heavyweight in a top company. The Kengo Mashimo package seems to require a big push. He acts like, works like and comes across as a killer. The flipside of that he is not well-suited to be a selling babyface, so working his way up the ladder in larger companies or simply being in a regular mix does not seem to work for him. The independents in Japan are filled with great talent with different things to offer and Kengo Mashimo, as the ace of Kaientai Dojo, certainly is a claimant to a top spot. The next couple years will define his long-term success because it will dictate whether he is going to be K-Dojo's ace, a top freelancer or a rising junior in a major company.
