Outlook - Touru Nohashi was one of the class of Ultimo Dragon Gym students intended to be a star in the Toryumon X promotion. The company borrowed heavily from the successes of the previous two Toryumon projects and put many of its youngsters in familiar gimmicks. Nohashi was dubbed "Koichiro Arai" and worked as the brother of Kenichiro Arai. He teamed with the senior Arai and eventually teamed up with a third Arai, Chuuichiro, which was a good formula for cutting his teeth in pro-wrestling. When the split between Ultimo Dragon and his students came, many of his proteges jumped to Michinoku Pro. He changed his name to Shinji Nohashi and adopted a gimmick similar to Michinoku's kingpin Jinsei Shinzaki. Although people might not think much of Nohashi when looking at him, he has shown to be very natural in the ring and is willing to do almost anything to get over. This was never more evident than when he took on Big Japan's premier death match wrestlers in their type of match. Nohashi is small, along with many of the other later Ultimo Dragon trainees, however he has shown great promise from an early stage and has improved pretty steadily since 2003 when he found regular work.
