Outlook - Takashi Sasaki has completely reinvented himself in the past few years and gone from a very good junior heavyweight to one of the premier death match wrestlers in the world. He broke in and grew substantially in DDT, but hit a ceiling. Sasaki had some runs in other post-FMW indies, but in 2004 he jumped to the Apache Army. This group of indy wrestlers began getting top spots in a number of places, but it was Big Japan that became Takashi Sasaki’s best platform. The “Death Match Wars” program featured BJW’s new generation and Takashi Sasaki was eventually put into the death match mix. He and Ryuji Ito became key players by bringing a lot of athleticism to death matches and rebuilding BJW. Takashi Sasaki is in his prime right now and while he has shown the versatility to make it to big leagues, it seems as though he is content to be a main event star on the indies. While it seems hard to picture him smashing lighttubes over opponents for many years to come, Takashi Sasaki has seen his greatest success in that style and excels at it, so perhaps he will stay with it.
