Place in History - Yumiko Hotta is a kind of weird one in joshi line of name stars. She was kind of a supporting midcarder for the first half of her career. Largely a tag wrestler, it took a while before her true abilities shined through. While not a great worker, dynamic personality or cute face, Hotta was a bad ass, who was willing to work hellaciously stiff matches. Once she got the footing to do her thing, Hotta was taken seriously. It seems odd because typical when one is notoriously stiff and selfish they aren't pushed, but she'd take it when she had to. After establishing herself, Hotta's game dropped off, but she was still a bruiser and enjoyed several WWWA title runs. Many feel she's long past her prime and has to be with an exceptional worker (who's utterly fearless) to look good and such judgements are founded. An example of someone who took a while to get going, was pretty good (in their own distictive way) once going, was on top in the downswing and towards the end was name, but a shell of what they once were. One could draw parallels to everyone from Mick Foley to Sting here, which is means that perhaps Hotta will be better looked at once she's gone.
