Place in History - "Right place, right time" is an adege that often rings true in pro-wrestling, so is the case of Larry Zbyszko's name was largely made off things aside from his ability. A very good amateur wrestler, Zbyszko was given a good push in his early years in the WWWF as an undercard babyface. He was the protege of Bruno Sammartino and event ually turned on his mentor and became one of the hottest heels in the country. Zbyszko was very much a sound athlete who knew how to make use of his abilities very well. As a heel, he became notorious for his stalling and cowering. Sometimes it worked wonders, sometimes it didn't. Regardless, Zbyszko's feud with Bruno catapulted his name value and he was able to live off that very well for a few years. Eventually, he married Verne Gagne's daughter and became AWA's chapmion in its dying days. Again, he was able to stay in people's minds and when the AWA collapsed he quickly found a nice spot in WCW. While his days as a wrestler were brief, he enjoyed a lengthy run as a color commentator right up through the company's peak years. Larry Z was in the thick of things again and not afraid to put over his accomplishments. Larry Zbyszko was always a good talker and psychologist, but it is questionable whether he became the so-called "Living Legend" based off his merits alone. He is widely recognized though and that means more than being the most talented more often than not.
