Place in History - As strange as it is the original Midnight Express stable that existed in Alabama was the backdrop of one of the greatest tag teams ever. Dennis Condrey (and later "Original Midnight Express" partner Randy Rose along with others) made up the gang, but it wasn't until Condrey was paired with the highflying Bobby Eaton and loud-mouthed Jim Cornette that the Midnight Express really took off. "Loverboy" Dennis played the solid, less flashy half and was a vital part to the unit. "Beautiful" Bobby was the real talent, a great worker with the ability to make opponents look tremendous. The duo tore it up in several regions, mainly feuding with the Rock-N-Roll Express, who matched them perfectly. After settling with Jim Crockett Promotions, the Midnights continued their success before a big change. Condrey, as the angle goes, was replaced by former Fabulous One Stan Lane because Jim Cornette's mother favored the handsome thirtysomething. "Sweet" Stan revitalized the team as the dynamic character Condrey never was. The boys from the Darkside wrestled into the 90s, still one of the very best teams in the world. While the second incarnation was not as successful as the the original, both teams were great largely due to Eaton's ability and Cornette's mouth. Perhaps the greatest heel team to ever grace a wrestling ring.
