Place in History - Bob Orton Jr. was one of the top workers and a high-level star from the mid-70s to the mid-80s. He was the son of Bob Orton Sr., who was a big star in Florida and gave Jr. a lot of exposure to the sport at a young age. Orton was a hard worker and truly loved what he was doing so he excelled quickly. He worked throughout the Southeast and Midwest with success everywhere he went. Orton worked as a rough n' tough cowboy with excellent ability, who often cut corners. In the early 80s, Orton was one of the very best, but hadn't stayed anywhere long enough to become the star he could've become. Before the WWF went national, he came aboard and was given the opportunity and established himself quickly. He soon become the bodyguard of Roddy Piper, who was the company's top heel when McMahon decided to go. A back injury had taken some zest out of Orton's work, but he could always get by on his wits and the alliance with Piper kept him in a key spot until 1987. After leaving the WWF, Orton worked for practically every company of note at that time in the United States and had tours of Japan and Europe.
