Place in History - As slick a mat wrestler as there has ever been, Steven Wright's athletic prowess rank him with some of the greatest pro-wrestlers around the world. Wright was an accomplished athlete in between secondary school and techncial school when he began his pro-wrestling career. He became known as the "Wonder Boy," looking like a veteran before turning twenty. In the early 70s he was a hit in Northern England and established himself well while still in school. Wright eventually began touring and never came back. He became one of supporting players in New Japan's junior heavyweight division in the days of Tiger Mask. Wright also relocated to Germany and became a regular with Otto Wanz' CWA. He became the company's constant middleweight champion trading the belt with Mile Zrno and Fit Finlay as he approached his forties. Wright was a top shelf worker and trained his son Alex, who was a solid undercarder for WCW in the 90s. Steven Wright might not be widely recognized for his excellence, largely because he was on the outer fringes of hot places and was at his best in place with few eyes on it.
