Striking - With a solid wrestling background, Heath Herring ventured to Holland to work
on his standup fighting. He usually looks for kicks, but he's used knees and punches
successfully as well. Herring looks to daze people with standup strikes then finish them on the
ground.
Wrestling - Herring's wrestling background means he can takedown, fend off takedowns, and
ride opponents fairly well. He often struggles with better grapplers, but has a good guard,
though he is not very good at working out of it.
Hooking - Though Herring is better in other areas, he loves to slap on a Rear Naked
Chokehold to finish off a dazed opponent.
Strengthes - Herring is a product of the crosstraining mixed martial artist as he is an
experienced wrestler, who can strike and submit. His lack of name recognition early on, gave
him an advantage, but in time that subsided.
Weaknesses - Herring has struggled with opponents who have superior size or savvy because
he relies on mainly his striking and wrestling. Bigger wrestlers can take him down and
smarter grapplers can draw him in. He has also proven overconfident in his standup skills and

Outlook - The world seems to be in Heath Herring's palm as he's beaten some big favorites
in Pride. If he continues to improve and get wins, Herring may very well be the next Pride
Heavyweight Champion. For now he's established as one of the best and most colorful fighters in
the MMA world and could be one of the greats.
