Striking - Dokonjonosuke Mishima's striking offense is about what you'd expect out of Shooto star. He is quite unorthodox with crazy jumping strikes, usually jumping knees to close the gap. This approach works pretty well for him and while he's not going to finish people with standing strikes, he can do damage. Mishima is fiesty standing, though can spend a lot of time shadow-boxing when he gets tired. His ground n' pound is here and there, depending largely on his opponent. He is constantly striking, unless he's going for a submission, and can be explosive. Mishima has trained in Kyokushinkai Karate recently and is hoping to develop this area further.

Wrestling - Mishima was an excellent judoka in his youth, so he is a capable of takedowns. It's not really his strong suit, but his strategy (rushing and legtripping) has worked for him. He is strong on the mat, which was his speciality in judo and he has BJJ experience as well. Mishima is good at moving between positions and keeping top control. This is mainly a stepping stone for his numerous submissions.

Hooking - Mishima's judo he learned was more of a mat-based game and he likened it to BJJ training. He is an excellent submission fighter and has a winning record with a variety of finishes. Amongst them are his own specialities, like the Cobragatame (a leglock/neck crank), that he's become known for. When he's on top and in control, Mishima is a works hard for his holds and

Strengthes - Mishima is well-rounded fighter with the variables that make him a strong fighter. He has pretty good endurance and has never lost by tapout or KO. He will go the distance and maintain his quality along the way. Mishima also has the benefit of not having a fixed offense and is somewhat unpredictable.

Weaknesses - Though he has many qualities that should make him a high-ranking lightweight, Dokonjonosuke Mishima seems to be lacking that something that would really set him apart. His striking is about average, his grappling and submissions are above average and he has a unique fighting style, but it just doesn't seem like enough. Mishima doesn't come from the most highly regarded school and hasn't clearly improved greatly in the past few years. Bushido is giving him a platform and he really needs to rise to the challenge and preform well on it.

Outlook - Dokonjonosuke Mishima is still a young fighter with a winning record and an established name in Shooto, DEEP and even U-Style. He is now stepping to the biggest stage with Pride and hopefully he can do as well there. Mishima is a energetic entertainer, which is a step in the right direction. If he is given the right opponents and can click with this larger grouping of fans, Mishima could be one of the major breakout stars for the Bushido shows.
