Striking - Carlos Newton is a great athlete and though he doesn't duke it out, his speed allows him to mesmorize oppoents and go for a takedown. He has nice boxing skill and likes to use weak lefts and hard rights following, but often late in fights.
Wrestling - The fiesty Newton is not your usual Jiu-Jitsu artist, he works fast and tries to go on the offense. He does wonderful double leg takedowns and can use his mat skill once he has his opponent grounded. Even the best wrestlers have their hands full and are often caught off guard with Newton's savvy and manueverability.
Hooking - Carlos Newton has great submissions, perhaps some of the best skill in the MMA world. Unlike many Jiu-Jitsu fighters, he is aggressive and will try to force openings. Usually though it is his more passive attacks that turn into wins for him though. The majority of his wins have come from armbars, clearly his favorite, but he'll grab a chokehold if the opportunity arises.
Strengthes - Newton is unlike any other Mixed Martial Artist in both appearance, approach, and attitude. He is very athletic and quick, which makes him one of the more exciting fighters. He uses these attributes to produce a unique Jiu-Jitsu style that is more aggressive than traditionalist's version. Newton is also philosophical, which is often an unseen part of martial arts in NHB fighting.
Weaknesses - Newton's young age has been perhaps his biggest flaw as he's been out-foxed by more experienced fighters most of the time. His aggressiveness can also be a detriment because Jiu-Jistu is largely about patience, which is usually what gets him the wins. He will also not try to avoid people's strengths as well as most fighters do, which shows his confidence, but also a level of foolishness.
Outlook - Carlos Newton will definitely be around for many years to come as he's been in game since he was only 19! One of the best Welterweights, whose actually lost exclusively bigger fighters. Newton maybe the best submission fighter in that weight class and his record would certainly argue in his favor. Newton will probably continue to get better and will be a competitive contender in not only amongst the Welterweights of the world, but among the Middleweights in Pride.
