Outlook - Yuji Nagata seems a lot like New Japan's answer to Toshiaki Kawada. He
is the most talented, but politics have worked him out of the heavyweight title situation for
so long its hurt the fans' faith in him. They've tried since to make him their top star and
pushed him as hard as anyone not named Antonio Inoki, but it's a different era and Nagata just
is not a big draw. He remains the company's most versitile, if not best, worker and time will
tell whether or not the fans can forget the years of near-misses and losses in shoot fights and
accept "Mr. New Japan" as a major star. Recent years have been kind to him, but he's aging and
might not be at his best when he reaches that level.
