Outlook - Being on of the top wrestlers in the world is not any easy place to be. Mitsuharu Misawa was the
top star of All Japan in the 1990s and remained a star in his own company Pro-Wrestling NOAH in the new millennium. The
Misawa of the 1990s was a wrestling machine and probably had more high quality matches than anyone had or will have.
Misawa was not just a great worker; he had the All Japan office behind him and was made the top star for the decade. In
addition, he gained power behind the scenes that allowed him to convince most of the company to walk out and start anew.
Pro-Wrestling NOAH took All Japan’s spot as one of the top two companies in Japan and has arguably taken the top spot in
the past few years. Misawa's ten-plus years as one of the most elite workers in the world have taken their toll and he
still has the know-how, but his physical tools are worn down. A few years ago Misawa was over forty, had a potbelly and
was over as a megastar because he could still bust out an amazing match. His game is rapidly declining, his popularity is
dipping because he’s still being pushed as a top star and it is questionable whether or not he can put out anything
resembling a legendary match. Misawa’s greatest problem seems to be his unwillingness to reinvent himself. He is a legend,
but he is not what he once was. While doing comedy matches is not necessary at this point, he needs to downgrade his
place on the card, change his athletic style and try to become the grumpy old man akin to the Jumbo Tsuruta who put him
over years ago.
