Outlook - Yoshinori Ota comes from one of Japan’s best amateur wrestling programs at Yamanashi Gakuin University, which has home to Kid Yamamoto (MMA superstar) and Riki Fukuda (former WJ wrestler) when Ota was there. He was a top wrestler in his weight class and seemed to have good potential as junior heavyweight. Ota has downplayed his amaresu past and concentrated on developing a sound puroresu style instead. He changed his first name to “Ippei,” which inexplicably refers to peacefulness. His progression has been slow and his peers have all shown decidedly more improvement since their respective debuts. It is unclear what the next few years will hold for Ippei Ota. Unless something clicks, do not expect much of push for Ota in the next couple years.
