Outlook - The type of wrestler whose dynamic spots and boyish good looks can made him stand out in the indy crowd. A.J. Styles first gained exposure in WCW's dying days as a promising cruiserweight. He worked hard after they closed and was one of the best known talents that the WWF didn't snatch up before NWA-TNA opened up. Styles was the key player in the X-Division concept, a cruiserweight division without the "smaller stars" stigma. He was paired with some very good opponents and some not-so-good opponents, but blossomed into a star for the company. They pushed him all the way to the NWA Championship and he was their premier guy, until they got a TV deal and made him the focus of the X-Division again. Styles has been in that role for a while now and is almost so amazing that it is difficult to predict his future. He can do tag team wrestling and could be the heavyweight champion again. At this point, TNA is either keeping him as an ace in the hole because the fans will always get behind him or they have no clue what to do with him. While his current status has arguably hurt his marketability, Styles has not really grown stagnant. A.J. Styles is and will probably remain one of the best pure athletic talents in the world until injuries or age take that away. If he can continue to develop his personality and deep bound with the fans, Styles could become one of the greatest of this generation. While NWA-TNA took him to a new level that was about five years ago and they have not been able to take him further. Can a thirty-something A.J. Styles still be the top star that it seemed he might have become? It depends entirely on the booking of the company or if he goes somewhere else.
