Outlook - One of the WWE's brightest stars. The former Prototype was a highly toated prospect as soon as scouts noticed him in Southern California. After a brief (some might say too brief) stay in OVW, Cena was brought up and pushed hard immediately. He was a blue chipper babyface, but it just was not his thing. He was green and his personality was squelched in that role. John Cena was repackaged as a white rapper heel and he quickly became a player. While his in-ring work was still lacking, Cena was exceptional on promos. As time passed, the fans helped turn Cena, whose rhymes and persona were just too original to boo. When he became a babyface, Cena was made a top star as the roster thinned out. He continued to gain popularity and the company pushed him accordingly. Most people had exceptional or at least acceptable ability to appease the hardcore fans, but Cena was different. He was wildly cheered by younger fans and women, but was unpopular with diehards who jeered his weak wrestling ability and tired material. Although a heel turn seemed inevitable, the WWE has refused to kill the cash cow that John Cena has become. He sells merchandise and tickets, which he might not as the top heel. John Cena is still struggling to define himself and the company is unsure of where to take him. They had bad turns with Stone Cold and The Rock and both eventually left. They cannot afford to lose Cena, but they cannot afford to misuse him greatly either.
