Outlook - Antonio Banks was a well-regarded independent wrestler out of the growing Florida scene. After doing a 9 1/2 year stint for robbery, Banks began a fast rise to the top. With his size, agility and charisma, Banks was able to turn heads quickly. Banks was excellent on the microphone with a personality that just exploded out. In the ring, he was a good hand who had great moves and work with most anyone successfully. He had chances with numerous companies before the WWE signed him in 2005. In Deep South, he repackaged himself as "Montel Vontavious Porter" or "MVP." His persona was simple, yet effective. He acted like an arrogant athlete who felt he was god's gift to his respective sport. From his fashion to his interviews, MVP was a hit character that he crafted perfectly. It is no suprise the WWE gave him a good push coming in and has remained high on him as a top level star. MVP's work in the ring is hit-or-miss, but he has been fairly well protected and allowed to get over that aspect of his character. In Deep South, he began refining his style to be more WWE-friendly and more heelish. He still has his cool spots to use from time to time, but MVP mainly relies on brawling and ballin' - so to speak. It is his whole presentation that really makes him something special. He does great vignettes, cuts good promos and has a distinct entrance. Although he is older than some of the other newer talent, MVP has a character may very well have a longer shelf life.
