Outlook - In the late 1990s as WCW were hitting their peak, one of the company's best performers was
beginning a downward spiral. Lord Steven Regal had consistantly been a top worker in the world for five years, who got
over despite the fact his wrestling style didn't fit into Eric Bischoff's direction and he was frequently lost in the
shuffle. In addition to those problems, Regal was ballooning up, looking sloppy and he was just going into his thirties.
Addictions took over and he hit rock bottom, not only as a pro-wrestler, but as a human. Fortunately, he was able drag
himself out of his hole. Better yet, as William Regal, he has managed to get to a higher plateau than he was at before.
His life story is truly incredible and was published under the title Walking the Golden Mile, which is amongst the
best autobiographies on the market. Since turning his career around in the WWF/WWE, William Regal has again joined the
ranks as one of the best workers in the world. He is inarguably one of the WWE's talents between the ropes, yet he is
perhaps in an even more elite crowd in regards to being an entertaining character. The versitile Englishman is able to do
new stuff week in and week out without having a real running gimmick, which makes him probably the company's most
consistant entertainer. As he closes in on forty, William Regal still has many good years in him as a wrestler, character
and trainer. Although the WWE sometimes is at a loss as to how they should use him, he always emerges with his ability and
that gives him great job security in the biggest pro-wrestling company in the world.
