Place in History - Tatsuo Nakano's role in the later UWF incarnations was one that worked well in that world with that crowd, but he was never allowed to break out of it. He was sort of a cult hero in a cult genre and the popularity of some of his peers just transcended the shoot-style world and they found success beyond. Nakano was very good in the style though as a rough and tough brawler type. He clicked well with those he could just fight with, rather than the technical grapplers. That is the main reason Nakano never achieved past his UWF/UWFi years. Regardless, he was a really popular undercarder in there and fit the style well. He infused pro-wrestling move here and there, but Nakano's main strength was giving and taking a beating. It made him and broke him in the world of puroresu.
