Place in History - The real superstar of BattlARTS, Alexander Otsuka was always a top star with the company and arguably their best worker. AO combined a variety of styles from the shootfighting and pro-wrestling styles he learned while breaking in to lucha tactics and about everything in between. Able to work a variety of styles in the worked realm, Alek could have gone anywhere and he did tour some surprising places, but he largely remained loyal to BattlARTS. Then with the formation of Pride he became an even bigger star by competing in the start-up MMA company. Similiar to Nobuhiko Takada, Otsuka was a key player in Pride's early years despite his lack of exceptional shooting skill. He retired pro-wrestling in 2001 and not surprisingly the BattlARTS ship went down without him. After failing to improve substantially with Pride and the company moving away from the use of wrestlers it seems like Otsuka's return to wrestling is pending. A sort of cult hero with his fun style, unique charisma and of course popular "AO Corner" theme song, Alexander Otsuka has the ability to return to pro-wrestling and become a major player in little time.
