D.A.C.A. present at Nt'l. NRA Gun Collectors Leadership Seminar XI
A highlight of the NRA Gun Collectors Leadership Seminar XI at Fairfax, Va., Oct. 1418, was a tour of the National Firearms Museum led by Doug Weekend, curator. The interactive computerized exhibits allow one to enter a gun's serial number to view a complete description of the firearm on a monitor. The museum is organized into time-periods and manufacturers' sections.
Three D.A.C.A. members have donated items for exhibit:
® Roger Muckerhide donated an early model Allen pepperbox.
® Dee Watson donated a Colt .45 Cal. Single Action revolver once owned by President Johnson.
® Richard Shea donated a machine gun belt.
Some of the favorite exhibits were the 1950s boy's rooman old-time shooting gallery from Coney Island, the Hall of Freedom and the rendition of Teddy Roosevelt's study. One of the favorite firearms was a Winchester shotgun presented to President Eisenhower.
D.A.C.A. members thought the museum to be "very modern, education-al, attractive and well done."
On Saturday, D.A.C.A. members Norm Grant, Alaska, and Richard Sheer, Dallas, were recognized for having attended all nine NRA seminars. D.A.C.A. members also conducted a Gun Show Safety presentation and fielded questions.
The Seminar concluded with a banquet and charity auction on Saturday night. General Mikhail Kalashnikov, inventor of the AK47, was the Guest of Honor.
Most of the D.A.C.A. group return-ed to Dallas on Sunday morning.
