Clinton/Gore administration targets gun shows
The next link in the chain
No sooner had the ballots been counted on Nov. 3, than then the Clinton/Gore Administration identified their next target in their quest for gun control the virtual elimination of gun shows. In a radio address, President Clinton noted, "With this action, we are one step closer to shutting them (gun shows) down."
ENFORCE THE LAW: The administration wants to apply Federal laws that require anyone "who devotes time, attention and labor to dealing in firearms as a regular course of trade or business . . . to possess a federal firearms license (FFL) to gun shows.
SOLUTION: Rather than directing its wrath toward law-abiding citizens, the Clinton/gore Administration needs to enforce existing laws and punish criminals.
MYTH: "Private Dealer" is a buzz word used by the President to garner political headlines and advance his antigun agenda.
SOLUTION: Communicate that "non-dealers" are people, like many D.A.C.A. members, who sell firearms only on an "occasional" basis for the enhancement of a personal collection or for a hobby" or to sell their collections. We know that to do otherwise is a violation of federal law and subject to a five-year prison term, a $5,000 fine, or both.
We fully expect President Clinton to pass the ball to his new point-man in the Senate. Chuck Schumer. We anticipate that Sen. Schumer will flex his newly found muscle by introducing a bill to this effect as soon as the next session of Congress convenes in January.
What can you do? You can sound off and be heard. Call your Congress and Senate representatives at 202-224-3121 and tell them to oppose any bill that unfairly treats lawful gun show attendees as criminals! You can also call their local office or send letters. Tell them how you feel and how you want them to represent you. Do it soon!
