Vests save lives

According to a Star Telegram article, bulletproof vests have saved more than 2,000 lives in the past 25 years. The article points out that modern day vests are lighter and more bullet-resistant than earlier models and are used by 80 percent of the nation's law enforcement agencies.

"Some members of Congress have proposed the Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant Act, which would set aside $25 million so cities can buy body armor for their officers," reads the article. Cities would put up half the costabout $1,300 per vest.
