To take you back home.
Lights cutitng darkness
Crowds rock to the Violet Fems
Goodnight Chicago
Day is almost done
Another hour slips away
I drift into sleep
Words run like water
Reflecting laughter and tears
The wet ink glimmers
Do not be afraid
The angels will keep you safe
There's no need to cry
The words "I love you"
Lies waiting to be whispered
Such a bitter pill
Thinking in haikus
Syllables clicking away
Five, seven and five
Take pen from paper
Words in my handwriting
Stare at me blankly
Writing poetry
Notes scribbled in the margins
I should be in class
