Join Marquette Kucinich MEET UP Support Group Are you registered to vote on Feb 7th 2004 for a democratic presidential candidate? What candidate do you respect and trust and feel can best make life better for the majority of Americans? Several local peace and justice activists think that Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich has the best past record and future plans to lead our country and have formed a local "Kucinich for President" group. Their goal is to inform area voters about Dennis Kucinich and his plans for a more peaceful and just America. Candidate Kucinich co chairs the Progressive Caucus - the largest caucus of Democrats in Congress. He is a champion of labor and fair trade and has opposed US membership in NAFTA and the WTO. He led the House Democrats in opposing the Iraq War resolution and has consistently opposed the illegal Iraq War and the unnecessary placing of our troops in harms way. Dennis is the originator or cosponsor of Bills in Congress providing for Medicare for all (HR676) and the creation of a Department of Peace. (HR1673). He is the only presidential candidate to oppose the civil rights shredding "Patriot Act". Dennis believes in public funded campaigns and elections. Dennis Kucinich as president plans to protect jobs thru fair trade agreements, require higher minimum and living wages, create public works jobs, provide Medicare for all including prescription drugs, return full social security benefits at age 65, fund public education (pre-k thru college), create a peaceful foreign policy that rejects preemptive war, and promote alternative energy sources. Dennis plans to repeal the Bush Tax Cuts for the wealthy and to cut military excess spending (15% or 60 billion) to help fund needed programs. The Marquette local "Kucinich for President" group’s action plan is open but involves communicating with area residents so that they can make an informed vote on Feb 7th. The group plans to MEET UP on the first Thursday of each month at 7 pm at Emma Joes Common Grounds 1907 Presque Isle Marquette. Local citizens who want to join The Marquette areas Kucinich MEETUP support group members are asked to sign up on the internet at www.kucinich.us using the MEET UP link and to e mail Richbourgeois@chartermi.net or call Rich at 906 486 8193. |
