"One nation, under God:" Religious discrimination or a nice thing to say during the pledge of allegience?

I thought they took that phrase out of the pledge years ago.

And I gotta be honest with you, I didn't care then, either.

Because I don't necessarily believe we are one nation under God. I believe I'm one man, under God, but I don't want to vouch for God's opinion on the rest of the dregs of humanity that inhabits this country. As a matter of fact, I pray that God doesn't group me in with most of my fellow Americans come judgment day. To include the list of people (and types of people) I hate would probably crash the server, so I'll just say this, it's just about everybody. A few examples....

Allen Iverson/R. Kelly/Jayson Williams/etc: You're not in the ghetto anymore (or the jungle for that matter). You are now a part of regular society. Act like it. Or go to hell. Or go to hell.

People that flash their lights behind me when I'm trying to pass someone else: Back off. And slow down. Or go to hell.

People that talk (even the slightest f@#$ing peep) during the movies. Sit down. Shut up. Or go to hell.

People who file frivolous lawsuits, just because they know that big corporations will settle. If you're fat it MUST be McDonalds fault, not because you're a glutton. If you've got lung cancer, it MUST be Phillip Morris' fault, because how could you have known that smoking was bad (I mean, besides the years of bad press and warning labels that cigarettes have had). If you wreck your car, it MUST be Motorola's fault, because had it not been for that cell phone you would have been checking the road for potholes instead of checking your voicemail. Grow up. Be accountable for your actions. Or go to hell.

Come to think about it, now I do have some feeling for the removal of that line. I'm for it. I'm for it big time! I don't want all these other f@#$ing scumbags to be granted any sort of the protection that being "under God" implies. F@#$ them!

And really, the line is wrong anyway. You can't tell someone that they can worship any deity they choose (nudge nudge wink wink), and then say "but if you live here, God is the only one really looking out for you, so you better pick him." I mean, I believe in God, but I also believe that when I'm sitting up in heaven there will be plenty of Buddhists up there who never worshipped God a day in their life. And they'll be there because they also never pulled up next to me in a jeep blasting rap music.

But what do I know. Even when I'm wrong, I write.
