Purpose |
Publishing |
Writersgalore exists for a single reason only. That reason is to bridge the gap between writers and editors, one that has existed for years and is widening with each passing day. While this may not be true between well-known writers and their editors or agents, for the rest of us it is an acknowledged fact.
Also, an acknowledged fact is the merger of many large publishing houses. That too is of prime importance to the writer. Where a writer previously could avail him/herself of the tactic called multiple submissions, and pit one company's offer against another company's offer, these mergers to a great degree limited that tactic. |

Editors' Rejections |
Getting an editor was always primary, no matter what you had in mind. How many times have you almost tossed your manuscript into the trash can after receiving another "Not good for us, good luck elsewhere" rejection from an editor? How many times after receiving that same rejection slip ten or twelve times have you told yourself, "Just one more time," and sent it out again? Have you ever kept track of the time and money this method of getting your work in front of the right editor has cost you?
Editors have long said that "85% of rejections come not from poor writing, but targeting the wrong market." Everything from Romance Novels, to Biographies, to How-To and Self-Help books are pointed to a certain age or social group. Finding the editor whose publishing house is furnishing reading material for one segment of the market is the writer's major problem. Wouldn't it make sense for your targeted, but unknown publisher's editor to be the one doing the seeking? The same is true of agents. This is doubly true of the magazine market.

It would then seem that the old "shotgunning of Editors," via a blitz of query letters, is like putting the "cart in front of the horse." It is out of sync. Why wouldn't it make more sense, since we have proved to ourselves that we cannot seem to find the appropriate editor or agent, to let our intended target find us?
This is the concept that writersgalore utilizes in its promotion of you, the writer. We have notified editors and agents that we will be listing the offerings of many writers and genres. When a request regarding your submission is received, writersgalore notifies you of the inquiry, name and address of the inquirer, and information sought. You take it from there. |
