THE WRITE POETRY
Stargazing
Ai87
A blanket of stars
In the glistening sky.
More stars than imaginable,
So many that constellations are hidden
Beneath the sequined skirt of heaven.
Laying in the dewy grass,
Jovial banter,
Among friends and companions.
I lay on a blanket on the ground,
And they lay close to my heart
Digging my icy toes into the quilt,
I see a shooting star,
A momentary streak across the sky.
A few of my companions have drifted into a peaceful slumber,
But I remain,
Staring at the stars.
Look to the familiar moon.
It's another night he's caught you awake.
Thinking
Does he...? Will he...? What does...? Am I...?
Controlled by the entity
Of pain and power
That drives us to emotion
That drives us to insanity
Grasps our heart in its hand
Squeezes
The nightmare,
Masked as a dream.
Hate feels better.
Because hate you are sure of.
Cry, sob, scream, shout-
Nothing you do can
Break its control,
And the moon will glow
On your eye-opened face
For months, until you
Think you are sure.
Love,
True love,
The murderer and life giver.
The pleasure and pain.
The master offering freedom.
The will to turn.
But like the apple before Eve,
You can't turn from the poison.
Love,
True love,
A curse and a gift.
A gun with the safety off.
And you lie, unable to sleep,
In the face of the true moon
Under a spell
Unable to run
Watch as it kidnaps you.
Takes you for a ride,
And hope
That it does not toss you away.
The bright moon leaves
The dark sun rises,
And now, under the soul revealing
Light, you shy away.
Knowing what you have to face:
Love.
True love.
Or is it?

I'm sorry we fought last night,
I know that I made you mad,
But things today aren't as easy,
And sometimes expectations are too high.
I can't always be the best,
I can't always do everything I'm told,
I can only do so much for you,
Before I stretch too far,
But don't be mad when I snap back at you,
It just means that I'm trying too hard.
So just let me be myself,
Don't put your expectations too high up,
And then I'll show the best of me,
So please try to understand,
I need your suport behind me,
But I can only be who I am.
In Tomorrow [Googolfog]
In Tomorrow I will stay
And play in all the flowers
That grow in March and then we see
The cooling April showers
In Tomorrow I will see
All that fly above me
Golden eagles, pink flamingoes,
And leaves falling from trees
In Tomorrow dreams come true
And there is nothing but smiles
So come with me into Tomorrow
And stay there for a while
LEARN FROM THE MASTERS
~ Edith Wharton
Okay, I've had my fill of people who are offended
too easily. I mean, really, I'm sick of hearing about
everybody having to be "politically correct." If you
want to see how bad it can get I suggest reading a
book called "Politically Correct Fairytales." I can't
remember the author, but if you find it, you'll see
what I mean. I think it's high time for people to wake
up and realize when people are intending to insult
someone, and when it's not intentional.
I'm sick of everything being changed just because
it might offend somebody. When I was in elementary
school, we sat "Indian style." Now my little sister is
in elementary and she sits "student style." Also, it's
time to get rid of racism, I mean, totally trash the
idea. I don't care about skin color. To me, it's all
about personality! After all, that's all that really
matters.
People now are all too tense. Everbody's out to
get them, the government is hiding vital secrets, and
no one can say anything without trying to be mean. I
think it's time we relax a bit, and try to hear things
from the other person's point of view before we go
jumping to conclusions.
I guess I should practice what I preach. I
understand that things are tough and a lot of people
have problems, but that doesn't mean someone can't
do someting just to be nice. I'm sure I'm going to
get more than one reply from someone who's been
offended by something I've said.
Really, though, things are no different than they
were a few centuries ago. The major differance is now
a lot of things aren't acceptable. Is it just me, or
does it seem that for every problem we solve, we get
another? We've gotten smallpox under control, but now
we have AIDS. We've taken care of alot of formerly
deadly diseases, but now we have cancer, leukemia, and
other things.
Personally, I feel the only way we're going to get
through all these tough times and progress as a
species is to calm down. We need to put aside our
differances, swollow our pride, accept help, and offer
as much help as we can to someone else. Basically,
what I'm trying to say, is don't be offended by
everything, let people be who they are, and try to
help the people who need it. There is no more room for
self pity. Things are just too tough.
