Educational aims of the Programme:
Compulsory Modules :
Economic and Public Policy Analysis of Technology( Semester 1 and 2 ) - This module aims to give students an understanding of how technological change contributes to competitiveness and economic growth, and how it is influenced by public policy.
Generic research Methods ( Semester 1 ) - The main aim of this module is to provide a critical assessment of the methodologies available to researchers in the social sciences, management and business studies. more specifically it involves developing skills and expertise in the planning and management and business studies. More specifically it involves developing skills and expertise in the planning and management of research as well as the ability to work independently to develop and defend an intellectual position. Ultimately the module provides background knowledge relevant to the successful completion of a research dissertation.
Research Methods( Technology Management)( Semester 2 ) - The purpose of Research Methodology Course in this semester is to prepare students for undertaking their dissertation project. In particular, you will learn how to formulate a Research proposal.
Strategic Management of Technology (Semester 1 and 2 ) - This module aims to give students an understanding of how companies develop, acquire and exploit technology. The module provides students with an appreciation of business and corporate strategy-making, and a clear picture of how technological innovation is planned and executed in order to contribute to company strategies.
Technology Assessment and Evaluation (Semester 1 and 2) - The module aims to explore the key issues which inform our understanding of technology: how technology develops, how choices between competing technologies can be made by governments and firms.
Optional modules:
Concepts and Interpretations of Information Systems (Semester 1) - This module seeks to provide a broad introduction to a variety of conceptual issues underlying Information technology, management and organizations. It will not only develop the understanding of a range of issues, but also develop the ability to examine and critically reflect on the following themes of information, rationality and decision-making, organizing as a social process, power and IT, and the development and application of IT.
Management of Multinational Enterprise (Semester 2) - The aim of this module is to provide a rigorous examination of the nature of management by focusing on its institutional, economic and organizational rationale. This will provide a framework for a critical evaluation of various theoretical approaches to the study of management. In addition, this module would provide an understanding of the global context in which multinational companies operate.
