Back to Poetry
Tonight
I've been waiting for this night
For you to sweep me off my feet
Realize what I've been trying to tell you
I've been waiting to see you as yourself
To see past the secluded mystery
To look into your eyes and feel safe
To be touched by silence
and finally say that I understand
I've been waiting for the pain to be dulled
By the morning's swift arrival
I can pour my soul onto paper
and not feel empty anymore
So sure, but so lost
You can bring me there
Yet you are running so fast.
I may not be able to keep up
But don't slow down, because
Maybe, just maybe,
This is living
