Mission Statement

University of Louisiana - Lafayette Writing Center Mission Statement

The focus of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Writing Center is on helping students develop the skills they need to improve their writing ability. At the Writing Center, students are encouraged to discuss their writing, whether they need help focusing ideas for their papers, help organizing their work, or help developing proofreading skills.

To this end, our goals are

To help students enhance their writing skills.
To help students move from writer-based to reader-based prose.
To focus on the writing process and the importance of creating multiple drafts.
To help students recognize the strengths in their writing, as well as problems.
To help students learn techniques to proofread their own work.
To empower students to learn to evaluate their own writing.
To nurture creative ideas.
