3DO launched in 1993 and was the system to take us to the next decade. Well its not the next decade and I don't see 3DO atop the video game market. Do you? Lots of hype and non-delivery for 3DO. 3DO was not a bad system but at its launch it was $600. Was 3DO another CD-I or didn't they learn. I was seeing the CD-I story again. At launch the system was going to have a wide range of games but there was only two. So much for the wide range. They beat Playstation & Saturn to the next step but fell short. They did drop the price to around $300 about half of its original cost. But by that time Sony and Sega had entered the the market. 3DO released an MPEG cartridge for the system but it didn't help. Who was going to buy it for $250 when you could buy a Playstation or Saturn for $300 which had better games. 3DO was not a bad system but it was had bad planing. 3DO will take its place on the shelve with the rest my old systems but I will bring it out every now and then just for fun.

M2 Accelerator was supposed to be 3DO's next system but it never made it to market. 3DO instead decided to port all the software over to the PC. To bad I really wanted to see this project fly. I will leave the picture so you can see what could have been. Maybe next time.

The 3DO system was not made by 3DO itself it was in partnership with seven other companies. The specs and blueprints for making the 3DO were developed by 3DO. Then companies bought the rights from 3DO to manufacture the system. The software companies did the same to develop software for the 3DO.

In my opinion it was another good system gone bad by high price and lack of games. Some of the later games where not bad but it was to late. Playstation and Saturn had been well on there way.
