Midfielder Lee Bowyer has completed his move from Leeds to
Barclaycard Premiership rivals West Ham.
The 26-year-old has signed a six-month deal at Upton Park and is
set to make his debut against Newcastle on Saturday.
It has been an eventful day for the midfielder - he has also
been banned for six matches by UEFA following his stamp on
Malaga midfielder Gerardo during a UEFA Cup tie in December.
Bowyer, whose summer move to Liverpool broke down because of the
player's wage demands, agreed personal terms and passed a
medical with the east London club today - and Hammers legend
Trevor Brooking believes it is a good move for player and club.
The former England international midfielder, now a non-executive
director at Upton Park, told Radio 5 Live: "Lee has had a pretty
torrid couple of years and his form has dipped this year.
"Everyone has felt he has had to change club - and in his
position he's shrewd enough to know it's a crucial stage of his
career.
"Playing-wise he should be at the very top because he's got
confidence in his ability, and experience of Champions League
and international football.
"He should be enjoying the fruits of his talents - but he's got
to concentrate 100% on the pitch and in the right way.
"Aggression is part of his game - but he must realise it's got
to be channelled in the right way because if not it will be
caught by a camera." |
