Samantha

  Another year has passed,
  My memories will forever
  Last

  Seeing a stumbling
  Colt unsure of its
  First steps

  Turn into a galloping
  Steed running
  Wild and free.

  Where one there
  Was a frightened
  Child

  There is now
  Someone
  A little wiser,
  A little older

  One step closer
  To adulthood.

  What will it be
  Like to speak
  To you as an
  Adult,

  Seeing the child
  Within your
  Grown-up body?

  What will you
  Think of me
  After my hand
  Has molded
  Your psychic clay?

  Will you look
  Upon the past
  Years with
  Joy or sadness,

  Or relief --
  Happy to have
  Survived it
  All
  Unscathed?

  My mind sometimes
  Plays tricks on me
  As I see you
  Again for
  The first time.

  The excitement
  Sparkling through
  Your eyes
  Like jewels.

  The gentle laughter
  That flows so
  Easily from you
  As it first
  Graced my
  Ears.

  The sight of
  Your gentle
  Delicate body
  As it learns
  To cope
  With a new
  World.

  I will not
  Forget these
  Years,

  For each
  Moment will
  Live forever
  In my mind.

  The laughter,
  The tears,

  The joy and
  The pain

  But, above all
  Else, the
  Moment I
  First saw
  You.
