Scams, Rumours & the Truth

A little while ago a lot of people were the victim of a 'scam'
that a lot of other people thought proper!
Its actually an old scam by now but every now and then a police
department will send invitations to some kind of a dream event to all
known wanted felons. What happens then is when they show up expecting
to be entertained or meet a favourite sports legend, the police are
there and 'bang' a bunch of criminals are no longer on the run!
As Kenny Rogers would say, "You can't out run the long arm of the law."
That type of scam may not scare many of us, but we do live in a
world that lives with lies!
Every now and then a new offer comes over the computer screen or in the
mailbox and all you have to do is send in a credit card number to
claim your 'winnings'. Or, rumours fly around and you start believing
that a petition has started to ban all mentions of God in public or
Proctor & Gamble is actually a device for the antichrist to rule the
world and soon in their symbol will be the dreaded '666'!
A result of this is we can be very suspicious or gullible and thus
unable to distinguish what is a legitimate or illegitimate claim!
This is the reason it is good to belong to Jesus Christ!
One of the things that we can know about Jesus is that he is no scam,
could not be a rumour but is all truth (John 14:6). Over & over again
Jesus told a world that is used to untruths "Most assuredly I say unto
you" (look at John 3:3,5,11, 5:19,24,25, 6:26,32 and many more).
Whatever he says will happen, will happen!
Whatever he promises those who belong to him, will be delivered.
It is hard to imagine that there is still in this world something
or someone that can be guaranteed to be trustworthy 100% of the time
but Christians have found that someone in their Lord & Saviour.
Judgment day is not going to be a hidden scam. There is going to be no
"I didn't mean what I said" or "I was only joking".
Neither is there going to be no heaven. We're not going to be lined up
the outside of the gate and find out what's inside is not heaven but a
bunch of officers waiting to take us away.
