MIDI format |
Some sites that I found that make good effective use of sound are: Polarbares, Thumper's WAV Files, Amazon.com, and MIDI Music for Worship.
Polarbares -- This is a someone's personal websitee that uses a MIDI file format, which the music "I Thank..." is a very calm peaceful choice for a Christian site. The music quality is clear and takes very little time to load. The sound creates a peaceful atmosphere while the visitor is reading the story written here which is very inspirational.
Here is also another site that is very good as well: http://www.oocities.org/Paris/Arc/3705/valleyigrow/index.htm
Also MIDI Music for Worship - Which is a resource page for people using MIDI Music for worship services with or without musicians.
http://www.midimaven.com/ - A really good collection of hundreds of different types of music, in a few different file formats, mostly MIDI and WAV file formats.
"Happy b-b-birthday, you, uh, thing from another world, you." [Porky Pig from a Looney Tunes cartoon] Just for fun!

WAV format |
Here is an example of a *.WAV music file : INCAPBLE.WAV is a 6.21 second sound bite from the MGM science fiction movie classic "2001: A Space Odyssey." It's the voice of HAL 9000 saying, "We are all by any practical definition of the words -- fool-proof and incapable of error." Another one: It's the voice of HAL 9000 saying, "Good evening, Dave." I had originally downloaded these files from AOL Sounds Download center.

RealAudio format |
Here is an example of RealAudio file format: Jessica Andrews "That's Who I Am" which I downloaded from Amazon.com and is playable by downloading Liquid Audio program, a free program available from them as well. I choose this because it was quicker than downloading the New RealPlayer Jukebox from RealPlayer, even though free as well, would take over an hour to download the program.
