2003 Stats

NBA Comparisons:

Optimistic Outlook: Bryce Drew
Pessimistic Outlook: Danny Ainge (Right Now)

Strengths – Blake Stepp is a good shooter. His jumper has solid form and he has NBA 3 point range. A good midrange shooter as well as a good 3-point shooter. He has good size for a point guard and is a capable playmaker.

Weaknesses- Blake Stepp is slow in every possible way. A true victim of White Man's Disease. Stepp’s shot has a very slow release, which could cause problems for him if he ever makes the NBA. He is not very athletic and does not have the quickness to ever get past any NBA defender. Stepp’s ball handling abilities need work if he wants to be a legitament NBA point guard. Although he is a good shooter, he can be very inconsitent and have atrocious shooting performances. He has been known to choke in pressure situations. (Gonzaga’s second round loss to Nevada comes to mind….)

NBA outlook- Stepp is a classic example of a good college player who will likely never succeed in the NBA. He simply does not have the athletic ability of a NBA player, and he is not skilled enough to make up for his physical handicaps.
