Optimistic Outlook: Vince Carter |
Pessimistic Outlook: DeShawn Stevenson |
Strengths – J.R. Smith is an
incredible athlete. He has a reported 44-inch vertical
leap, which he uses to throw down impressive dunks.
Smith is an amazing finisher, who is hard to stop on
the fast break. Smith is not just a dunker, he has a
very good outside jumper which he can shoot from out
to 30 feet. He is a good rebounder because of his great
athletic ability. A very solid and tough defensive player
who defends plays with heart.
Weaknesses – He has horrible
shot selection. Really needs to start shooting less
ridiculous 30 foot threes. Although he has the ability
to hit these shots, his shot selection makes him a very
inconsistent shooter. Overall, Smith needs to learn
to make better decisions and make smarter plays. He
also needs to work on his ball handling skills and develop
a better midrange game. He either drives to the hoop
or launches a three; there is not much of a midrange
game.
