These trials will be held indoors on fully matted floor.
Indoor crating is available.

Entries Limited

300 dogs per judge per day

No Entries accepted before 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 28, 2000.
Packages may contain no more than entries for 10 dogs.

Entries close 5:00 PM, Friday, July 28, 2000
At the Trial Secretary's home or when numerical limits are reached if prior to that date, after which time entries cannot be accepted, cancelled, altered or substituted, except as provided for in Chapter 11, Section 6 of the Dog Show Rules.

Dogs Eligible to Enter
  • This trial is open to all dogs over the age of 12 months that are registerd with the American Kennel Club or are dogs that have obtained AKC ILP numbers, except bitches in season, aggressive dogs, or dogs suffering from any deformity, injury, or illness which may affect the dog's physical or mental performance, and breeds not registerable with the AKC.
  • Dogs eligible for entry in the Miscellaneous Class at dog shows are eligible to participate provided that they are AKC registered.
  • Miscellaneous Class dogs wiht ILP's are not eligible to participate.
  • Dogs of a registerable breed with an acceptable foreign registration number are eligible to participate subject to Chapter 11, Section of the Dog Show Rules.
  • Spayed bitches and neutered males are eligible to participate.
Course Familiarization and Warm-ups
  • Handlers in all classes are permitted to walk the course without a dog, prior to the start of the class. following the judge's briefing. The walk-through is restricted to handlers entered in that class. A walk through period will be held prior to each class following the judge's briefing.
  • NO equipment familiarization will be offered at this event.
  • A warm-up area consisting of a regulation jump shall be provided for all exhibitors. Exhibitors may NOT use the warm-up area to relieve their dogs.
Exhibitor Information

  • At the handler's option, dogs may wear flat buckler or rolled leather collars, but there shall be no hanging tags or attachments.
  • Choke collars, pinch collars, electric and dummy collars are prohibited.
  • Exhibitors may wear shirts or insignia of their training group if they wish.
  • Food and toys are not permitted in the course area and handlers are not permitted to use whistles or other instruments or devices.
  • Group banners may be displayed, but shall be placed so the movement of the banners does not distract the dogs on course.
Move-ups

  • Move-ups for the August 12th trial must be sent in writing to the Trial Secretary not later than August 7th. These may be mailed, emailed to tribecca@westol.com, or faxed to (412) 373-3339. Move-ups for the remaining trial must be given in writing to the Trial Secretary no later than the day before the trial by the close of judging. Any move-ups will be accepted only under the condition that there is space available in the class.
Prizes

  • Ribbons will be awarded to the 1st through 4th place in each jump height and in each class.
  • Qualifying ribbons will be awarded to all dogs receiving a qualifying score.
  • Finish title ribbons will be awarded.
  • Dogs MUST have qualifying scores to be eligible for prizes.
  • All ribbons must be clamed at the trial, none will be mailed.

Classes

Novice Agility A For persons and dog that have never acquired an agilty title
Novice Agility B For dogs that have acquired the Novice Agility title (or Novice JWW title), persons who have handled a dog to an agilty title from any organization, and for Agility Judges.
Open Agility Open to dogs that have acquired the Novice Agility or Open Agility titles but which have not acquired the Agility Excellent title.
Agility Excellent A Open to dogs that acquired the Open Agility title but which have not acquired a qualifying score in the Excellent B Class. Qualifying scores for the AX title are acquired in the Excellent A Class.
Agility Excellent B Open to dogs that have acquired the AX title and for dogs that have acquired the MX title. Qualifying scroes for the MX and Master Agility Champion titles are acquired from the Excellent B Class.
Novice A Jumpers With Weaves Open to persons and dogs that have not acquired any agilty title.
Novice B Jumpers With Weaves For dogs that have acquired any agility title, persons who have handled a dog to an agilty title from any organization, and for Agility Judges.
Open Jumpers With Weaves Open to dogs that have acquired the Novice JWW title or Open JWW title but which have not acquired a qualifying score towards an Excellent JWW title.
Excellent A Jumpers With Weaves Open to dogs that have not acquired the Excellent JWW title.
Excellent B Jumpers With Weaves Open to dogs that have achieved the Excellent JWW title.
No dog may participate in more than one Standard Class and one JWW Class per day.

Height Divisions

Owners are responsible for entering the proper height divisions. Judges reserve the right to measure dogs entered in the trial.
8 inches For dogs 10 inches and under at the withers
12 inches For dogs 14 inches and under at the withers
16 inches For dogs 18 inches and under at the withers
20 inches For dogs 22 inches and under at the withers
24 inches For dogs over 22 inches at the withers
Handlers may opt to run in a higher height division, but not in a division lower than their proper height division. Dogs that run in a height division lower than their proper division will be eliminated.

Obstacles

  • Obstacles shall meet the specifications for obstacles in the current edition of the Regulations for Agility Trials. The following mandatory obstacles and jumps shall be used for all standard classes:
A-Frame (9 foot sides) Dog Walk (8 & 12 foot planks ) Open Tunnel
See-Saw (12 foot plank) Pause Table Tire Jump
Closed (collapsed) Tunnel Broad Jump Panel Jump
  • Weave Poles will be used in Open and Excellent classes only. Triple jump will be used in the Excellent class and may be used in the Open Class.
  • Other jumps and hurdles as described in the regulations. All jumps are capable of being displaced.
  • All classes will take place indoors on fully matted course.

Notice to Exhibitors

Telegraph, Telephone and Unsigned Entries Cannot be Accepted. Entries not on official AKC entry forms and photocopies of entry forms without agreement and rules on the reverse side of the offical AKC entry form are NOT ACCEPTABLE.
Make All Checks and Money Orders payable to WCOTC. CANADIAN exhibitors must make fees payable in U.S. FUNDS. Please mail checks or money orders with entries. Trial secretary assumes no responisiblity for cash sent through the mail.
A Recording Fee of $3.00 will be required for each dog entered at any Licensed Agility Trial. This Recording Fee is to be collected by the Show-giving Club and paid to the American Kennel Club. If a dog is entered in more than one class, the Recording Fee is to be collected on the first entry only. (American Kennel Club Rule, Chapter 14, Section 2)
No Entry shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which specifies any conditions as to its acceptance.
Entry Fees Shall Not Be Refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualifed, excused by a Veternarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of the show committee. If because of riots, civil disturbances, fire, public emergency, act of a public enemy or other acts beyond the control of the organizing committee, it is impossible to open or to complete the show, no refund of entry wil be made.
Entry Fees (minus $5.00) will be refunded in the event that a bitch is in heat and veterinarin certification is presented.
Post Dated Checks and Returned Checks do not constitute a valid entry fee. There wil be a $20.00 service charge for returned checks.
No Refund for Dupicate Entries. Every effort will be made to find all duplicate entries; however, if entry has been processed, no refund wil be made.
Errors on Entry Blanks. Owners are responsible for errors in making out entry forms, whoever may make such errors, and no entry and no entry fee will be refunded in event of such errors or cancellation of entries after the published closing date.
Dogs May Arrive any time prior to their scheduled time of judging. Dogs not required for further judging will be excused.
Judges WIll Not Wait for any Dog Holding Up a Class. Handlers alone are responisble for the presence of their dogs in judging ring when classes are called to be judged.
All Dogs Present must be held on leash or confined to their crates except when being judged, when in the exercise ring, or in the designated agility warm-up area.
The Safety of the dog is our primary concern. By entering this trial, exhibitors acknowledge that they are familiar with the rules and regulations of this sport, and that their dogs are familiar with and able to perform all obstacles safely.
Puppies under the age of six monhs are strictly prohibited from the premises.
Exhibitors alone are responsible for the behavior of their dogs and/or children. Any exhibitor whose dogs and/or children create unnecessary disturbances or repeatedly engage in unsafe or disruptive behavior, may at the discretion of the Show Committee, be asked to leave the show site. In such case, no refund of any entry fees paid will be made.
Declination of Entries. Westmoreland County Obedience Training Club may decline any entries and may remove any dog on account of disease, viciousness, or oather cause and no one shall have any claim against WCOTC, or any official thereof.
Limited Air-conditioned Indoor crating areas are available. Crates may be left overnight.
Food will be available at the show site.
Exhibitors are responsible for picking up after their dog(s).
WCOTC will not be responsible for any lost or damaged items left at the show site.

Agility Trial

Entry Fee: (Including $3.00 AKC Recording Fee) is $20.00 (1st entry) and $10.00 (2nd entry) per dog per day. Make checks payable to WCOTC.
Mail entries to Trial Secretary Barbara Blanchfield, 1322 Foxwood Drive, Monroeville, PA 15146 Entries accepted after 10:00 AM, March 15, 2000. Entries close at 5:00 PM, Friday, July 28, 2000 at the Trial Secretary's address.
Checks and Money Orders must be payable in U.S. funds. No telephone or fax entries accepted.
Express mail entries must include signature permitting them to be left at the Trial Secretary's address without recipient signature. If no recipient is present, entries may be returned to the sender.

The Greensburg Campus of the University of Pittsburgh is located south of Greensburg off Mt. Pleasant Road.

From the North/East
From Route 22 in Delmont, exit onto Route 66 South (Toll Road). Follow to Route 30 exit (toll =75 cents in change). Turn left at light onto Route 30 East. Follow for 3.8 miles to the Mt. Pleasant Road Exit. Travel south past University Drive to the University of Pittsburgh Greensburg Campus entrance on the right. Follow signs for parking. Trial is located in Gym of the Student Center.

From the South
Take Route 119 North from New Stanton, through Youngwood to Route 30 East. Travel East to the Mt. Pleasant Road Exit. Travel south past University Drive to the University of Pittsburgh Greensburg Campus entrance on the right. Follow signs for parking. Trial is located in Gym of the Student Center.

From the West
Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike to Exit 7 (Irwin). Follow Route 30 East for 8.7 miles to the Mt. Pleasant Road Exit. Travel south past University Drive to the University of Pittsburgh Greensburg Campus entrance on the right. Follow signs for parking. Trial is located in Gym of the Student Center.
