Class Descriptions:
|
Puppy Kindergarten: For dogs 12 weeks to under 6 months old. This class emphasizes a positive training approach to socialization and beginning obedience, and offers information about puppy rearing and dog behaviors to new and experienced puppy owners.
CGC Basic Obedience: For dogs 5 months and older. This class, for beginner dogs and handlers, introduces the basic obedience commands (sit, down, stand, heel, come and stay) and also teaches the dog manners when around other dogs and people. No previous training or experience is required. The emphasis in this class is that the dogs learn what is needed to pass the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test.
Competitive Basic: For people that have trained previously and are planning to show in obedience.
Pre-Novice: For dogs which have completed one or more basic classes. This class begins where the basic obedience class ends, and is for both the handlers who wish to eventually show their dogs in obedience, and those who are training for their own pleasure of owning a well behaved pet.
CD (Companion Dog): For dogs which have completed one or more basic classes. This class is geared primarily for handlers who wish to show their dogs in obedience. An emphasis is placed on polishing both the dog and the handler, learning to work off-lead and learning the obedience regulations.
Graduate Novice: for dogs who are doing all the Novice exercises, but are not ready for Open. This class teaches the exercises in the new Grad Novice obedience class as defined in the October 2000 Regulations.
CDX (Companion Dog Excellent): For dogs which have earned their Companion Dog degree and whose handlers wish to teach them jumping and retrieving to continue showing in obedience.
UD (Utility Dog): For dogs which have earned their Companion Dog Excellent degree and whose handlers wish to teach them hand signals, scent discrimination, directed retrieving and directed jumping to continue showing in obedience.
Rally Obedience: The new non-regular form of obedience as developed by Charles (Bud) Kramer.
Run Throughs: Practice sessions for dogs getting ready to show in Novice, Open, or Utility.
Our classes are held at our training facility in the Delmont North Industrial Park, on Route 66 just north of Delmont, PA. We are located in Southwestern Pennsylvania, about 30 miles east of Pittsburgh.
