On 25 September 1999, WSTTA was honoured to be invited to Cherrybrook Chinese Community Association at Cherrybrook for a table tennis exhibition.

Cherrybrook Chinese Community Association is one of the largest community associations in the Sydney Chinese community and is very keen to develop the sport of table tennis as part of their sporting activity. On that afternoon, WSTTA sent a squad of elite juniors including Charles Chau, Dereck Eu, Vivian Yung ,Yian Sun , Kinson Cheung who were accompanied by WS Senior Vice President Henry Chu, committee members Steven Lee, Kevin Cheung and Sam Lau and coaches Johnny Zhou and Tony Lee.

About 100 members of the Cherrybrook Association turned up for the occasion. Two tables were set up in the school gym. After a short introduction of the game of table tennis by Johnny Zhou, our WS head coach, basic skills and techniques were then demonstrated by our juniors with side commentaries. A few short games were played by our members to demonstrate the service and return service game. Members of the Cherrybrook were later invited to join in and to be coached by our coaches. A table tennis robot was also set up and everyone was invited to have a go at it. The session lasted for over 2 hours and everyone seemed to have enjoyed themselves immensely. Later, mementos were exchanged between the two associations and pictures were taken to mark the occasion.

It is hopeful that WSTTA can assist CCCA in its table tennis program and develop more potential juniors in the future. Already a few of the juniors of the CCCA have joined WS and hopefully their skills can be further improved through our training programs.
