Cepheus

Cepheus is close to the celestial north pole (Polaris). Cepheus stands out among the are since it is shaped like a house (complete with pointed roof). Along with one of the bottom corners of the house, there are two other stars that form a triangle. The star farthest from that corner is called delta Cepheid.

Delta

This star is very important in astronomy since it allows astronomers to measure distances farther away than any other measurement can. Cepheid variables actual light output is proportional to the rate at which it variates.
