July 31st 1999, I went once again to the New World Music Theater with Chris, Bob, and Jim to see Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. We had lawn seats, even thought the jackass at TicketMaster told us that there was no such thing as lawn seats at the World Music Theater. We got there really early, and had alot of fun laughing at and making fun of people. Lucinda Williams opened and well, we all hate country, so we weren't all that happy that she was opening. Tom Petty came on and played a great show, the highlight being a cover of Them's Gloria. It lasted for at least 10 minutes, and the entire crowd just started singing and going nuts. Quote of the night: "I bet your liscense plate is ...." or "Bill Parker? BILL PARKER FROM KANSAS CITY!" |

August 20th 1999. Once again, the New World Music Theater. This time to see REM. I went to buy the tickets the day of the concert around 11am. I get to the Ticket Master place, and I ask for 3 pavillion seats, the lady behind the counter goes, "Ohh sorry, the closest I can get you is row Q center." I stand behind the counter counting my fingers as I went along, A, B, C, D, E... 17TH ROW, I'll take em. So that is how I got the tickets, get there late, this time it was Heather's fault. Just in time to see Wilco the opening act, they weren't all that great. So, anyways, the concert was horrible, yes, horrible, I did not like it at all. There was one part when the lighting guy brought the light on to Michael Stipe to early in between songs, and he was like "Bruce, Bruce, take it easy Bruce." and then the light went off, so I screamed at the top of my lungs, "Way to go Bruce, and everyone cheered, and Michael smiled. Quote of the night: "Hi, I'm Toni." |

September 30th 1999, I found myself with my Dad, and my Grandma and Grandpa at the United Center. For the last of three soldout shows by none other than the Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen. This was the greatest show, that I have ever seen. I can't even describe it, it was just unbelievable. Highlight of the evening, was every single light in the place being turned on during Born to Run, so you could see every single person in the place going nuts, singing, and dancing along to one of the greatest rock songs of all time. |

Saturday February 12th 2000, Rosemont Theatre. I along with my wonderful girlfriend Heather went and saw Dennis DeYoung the lead singer of STYX, backed by a fifty piece orchestra. It was very cool. Lets see, Heather had sprained her ankle the night before at her Winter Dance, so she was gimpin it with her crutches, let it be noted for the record that SHE insisted on hobbling from the car to the venue. Then all the assholic people refused to let her sit in the lobby, so she had to stand, IT'S CALLED MANNERS!!! Anyways, the show was cool, the orchestra started off by playing an overture of the songs, it was cool. But the first song was The Grand Illusion, that was cool. Other notables were Mr. Roboto, that song kicked ass. Lady and Babe were Highlights, as well as the Gershwin pieces, and the Hunchback of Notre Dame. We sat about three or four seats away from the lead singer of Survivor. It was cool. Quote of the Night: "Here comes a homeless person, don't worry I locked the doors." or "Chris is my date for the evening." |

St. Paddy's day 2000 I went to the Allstate Arena to see Korn. The opening band was Stained, and they were really good. Even though the bassist didn't have anytype of spine. There was some type of animation thing going on between the acts, and fitting with the theme, they were all sick and twisted. Korn came on and did a good job playing the songs, but that's all they did. They got up there and played, no showmanship at all. But ohh well. We took my sister Meg for her birthday. It was me, my brother Jim, his girlfriend Cheryl, their roommate Sherry, and Meg. Overall it was a cool concert. It was Meg's first and she had a lot of fun. Although I wouldn't run out to buy tickets the next time they come to town. |

Sunday June 25th found me at the World Music theatre in Tinley Park Illinois for The Who. Very nice show. I enjoyed there synth style music such as Baba O'Riely, Who Are You, Won't Get Fooled Again that type of stuff. But then Magic Bus, Pinball Wizard and The Seeker were also just as great. We sat in the lawn, by us I mean 8 of us. Nothing really exciting happened. But the show was great Pete Townsend is a God and should be worshipped like one. The greatest bass solo ever was played during 515 and My Generation. But it was a great show. Quote of the Night "You're ruining my vibe man, You're ruining my vibe." |

October 30th, AllState Arena. Papa Roach, Eminem, Limp Bizkit. Overall the show sucked, up until Limp Bizkit came on stage. Papa Roach just didn't have the experience to play a 18k seat show. Eminem had to many people aside from himself on stage with him, trying to hog the spotlight. But, Limp Bizkit was all that I expected them to be. The show was heavy and in-your-face. The songs were easily adaptable to the stage and didn't fail to convince me that LB has potential for the future. Quote of the Night "Suck my Dick, Mutha F**ckers in Chi-town" -Eminem, said approx 386 times during his brief 1 hour set. |

May 19th 2001 I found myself at the Tweeter Center, or the World Music Theater. The event was Q101's Jamboree, the show consisted of several bands and was your typical run of the mill Radio Station concert. Bands that played included, Fuel, Alien Ant Farm, Lucky Boys' Confusion, Cold, various other people I really don't care about. I was really there to see Staind. They opened with Mudshovel and it just rocked from there. Unfortuantetly, the audience didn't get into them until Aaron busted out the Acoustic for Outside, followed by a great version of It's Been Awhile. We watched Linkin Park and Papa Roach, Papa Roach were good and showed they might actually have some talent in the future, whereas Linkin Park just really sucked. After those two, we headed over to the B-stage to watch Crazy Town close that stage, they were incredibly good, I can not believe just how good they actually were and I was glad I got a chance to see them. Back to the main stage to watch Disturbed close the show, they were good, and caused me to go buy their cd that next week. They were filming a video for "Down with the Sickness" and they played it twice. In all, it sucked, purely cause I had just seen U2 3 days prior. But the moments I said above made up for it. |

September 27th at the Tweeter Center and I was finally seeing a Jimmy Buffet Show. Chris has been to very many Buffet shows and always raves about them, so I figured this year I would go. I got there incredibly early and got to experience some of the tail-gating that goes with these Parrotheads. When we got into the show, it was Me, Chris, Adrianne and Matt. We set up on the lawn and sat there for several hours, quite unneccesarily might I add. Before the show started, a pre-recorded tape of the National Anthem was played over the loud speakers. The concert was originally supposed to take place Thursday September 13th, but due to the tragedy the Tues prior, they postponed it two weeks. The show in all was quite good,Considering the guy is over 50 and still runs around like he's 20, I enjoyed it. Me and Matt had two different drunk girls come up to us to get us to dance, we just kind of ignored them though. Anything else? No not really that I can think of. |
