GREETINGS PETE, HOW ARE THINGS DOWN UNDER? FIRST OFF, PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF, AND TELL A TALE OF THE CREATION OF MISCREATION?

G'day Aaron, things are going just fine here......well the creation of Miscreation happened September 98. The original members were myself on Guitar, Shane on bass, Mark Vox, Gordon doin' drums and Ricki on L/Guitar. Since then we have replaced Ricki with Ex-Neuropath guitarist Frank Munoz (EDITORS NOTE: Frank has now left the band, as well!)

YOUR SOUND/STYLE IS VERY SIMILAR TO THAT OF THE BRUTAL US DEATH METAL SCENE. ARE YOU INFLUENCED BY ANY US BANDS WHEN IT COME TO WRITING YOUR MATERIAL?

Not so much when we are writing....I think it just happens to turn out that way. We all are deeply into the US scene so obviously we are going to be influenced whether we like it or not, but we don't go for that sound purposefully, we are just doing what we love...

I NOTICED THAT ALL OF YOU HAVE BEEN IN PREVIOUS BANDS BEFORE, EXCEPT FOR YOUR VOCALIST. WHERE DID YOU PICK UP MARK APPLETON FROM?

When we were looking for a singer we really didn't have that many options and as always we would be at gigs telling people that we were looking and so forth.....and this one night we thought fuck it, this is our last attempt, and so we went to this gig and announced it over the P.A....next thing you know this guy walks up, pissed as a fart and says " I do vocals" and there ya have it.

YOU GUYS RELEASED A CD DEMO, SIMPLY TITLED "DEBUT DEMO". WHY SUCH A SIMPLE TITLE? HOW MANY COPIES WERE MADE, AND HOW MANY OF THIS CD HAVE YOU SOLD SO FAR?

We simply wanted people to know that it is a demo, nothing else....just a demo. As for how many copies we hade made up for us, we got 1000 and have managed to get rid of just over half so far with a lot more people being interested in it over the last 4 months or so.

ARE YOU GUYS STILL GOING TO BE RECORDING AN EP FOR VENOMOUS RECORDS? GIVE AN INTRODUCTION TO WHAT WE SHOULD EXPECT FROM THIS CD?

We sure are, Mark (Venomous Records) has been a great help to our band and a good friend as well so we are all very happy to be doing a release under his label. The Ep will contain a few tracks off the demo as well as some of our newer songs Altar of Gluttony, Dead Dream, Blood dimmed Sight, as well as some multimedia stuff....Live footage, bio etc, etc. We are really concentrating on getting the production right this time, It should be a very strong release.

THE SOUND QUALITY IS VERY HIGH PRODUCTION, AND PROFESSIONAL. WHAT WAS IT RECORDING LIKE IN THIS STUDIO, WHICH GAVE YOU SUCH A KILLER SOUND? WAS THE PRODUCER EASY TO WORK WITH? WILL YOU BE USING THIS SAME STUDIO AGAIN FRO YOUR NEXT RECORDING?

We are going elsewhere this time around to record, we really want to sound the best that can possibly sound and we didn't feel that Grey label can quite get what we wanted. Chris was great to work with but hadn't worked with a death band before so we ended up doing the majority of the production on the demo ourselves and had alot of fun doing it. This time around we are going to Velvet Studio's and working on an Analogue system which we are very excited about, none of us have ever used it before and would like to hear the difference between that and digital.

HAVE YOU BEEN FEATURED IN MANY ZINES SINCE RELEASING THIS CD? WHICH ZINE IF ANY HAS BROUGHT YOU THEIR FAN BASE?

We have been feature in a few and we are very thankful for all their support. It is always great when people are interested enough in us to want to feature us in anything....we are still getting used to people wanting to know about us, sort of a shock to the system.

JUST RECENTLY YOU JOINED ENCABULOS FOR A SMALL TOUR THROUGH AUSTRALIA. DID IT TURN OUT GOOD FOR YOU GUYS TO DO THIS? ANY MEMORABLE THOUGHTS FROM THE ROAD?

Many memorable thoughts I can tell you. I'm really good friends with Adam (Singer of Encabulos) and he is an absolute nut case and a hell of alot of fun to be around and I think I'd better leave it at that.....if you read this Adam I've still got that bribe photo of you and the Piggy tails!! It was a great tour and a great response from the Australian scene in general. Adelaide I think was the pinicle of the tour...one of the best gigs I've been to let alone played at. We are definitely doing it again towards the end of this year!

YOUR WEBSITE IS ALSO VERY GREAT. WHO DESIGNS IT? DO YOU FEEL THE INTERNET HAS OPENED UP A NEW WORLD FOR OUR BELOVED UNDERGROUND?

The Artwork and layout of the site is done by myself and a very good friend of mine does all the html for it, glad you like it. The internet is one of the greatest things to have happened to our scene, it's amazing to think how it has grown since the internet started and how much stronger it has made it. I don't have enough good words to say when it involves the underground and the internet and I'm very glad that it happened, it has helped us out considerably.

DO YOU FEEL THAT WEBZINES HAVE A GOOD ENOUGH IMPACT TO THE SCENE?

A terrific impact, everything is there....Reviews, interviews, pixs you name it but without the overheads that Printed zines have. I have a great respect for anyone who supports and is a contributor to the Underground scene the world over, and whether they decide to do it on print, on the internet radio anything it all helps in the running and longevity of our music and way of life.......

OK PETE THAT IS ALL FOR NOW. FEEL FREE TO SPEW FORTH ANY COMMENTS?

Aaron.....thanks for the killer interview and for supporting Miscreation....we appreciate it man. If anyone wants to get in contact with us e-mail me at miscreation@mpx.com.au or if you would like to check out our web page it's at http://welcome.to/miscreation Cheers and beers to all.....stay brutal!!!
